bunnyconda . @bunnyconda,

Trying to reconcile the fact that I've always been extremely poor with social interaction and that 3 years of VRChat has done absolutely nothing to alleviate that

@bunnyconda Vrc is a lonely place, yeah. Seems like you only get noticed if you have a fancy avatar.
I think the weirdest thing is that certain avatars change facial expressions depending on really subtle changes in the controller grip. I never know if my face matches what I intend to communicate. Real life communication is easier than this.

@hexadoodle @bunnyconda if i’m editing a base, this is almost inevitably the first thing to get stripped out or placed in a menu, i’m not remembering hand gestures, and the palm extenders i use on the controllers make the grip sensor a bit inconsistent anyway

i think it has helped us a bit, but i still do the same things of either clinging onto one person for a lot of the morning or drifting aimlessly between groups

bunnyconda . @bunnyconda,

@Dex @hexadoodle Drifting around is what I usually end up doing, if anxiety doesn't take over; the groups I tend to have the most fun with nowadays are centered around a game or something so there's at least always something to do even if the game itself isn't the central focus (which I dislike anyway if I'm not on specifically for a game meetup, my index thumbstick has gotten more and more unresponsive over time, makes actiony games practically unplayable)

@hexadoodle It really depends on who is there, I've been in groups of friends and acquaintances where the most interaction I get is 10 seconds of saying "hi" before they go back to their impenetrable circle, and I've seen others actively pull people in, even with so little in common there's never a dull moment around them. Very similar to cons in my experience, and it's frustrating because getting better at approaching people or making stuff happen on VRC should translate to getting better IRL but I've just remained bad at both this whole time.

The expression thing is something I found annoying and disabled early on, and since then have pretty much never even considered using them until recently (as I want to add some on an avatar I made)
